You Only Have One Chance

NYU Washington, DC and CapitalBop presented composer, educator, bassist and band leader Michael Formanek and his Ensemble Kolossus. This 17-person ensemble played compositions of great rhythmic sophistication that unfold in lyrical free expression.

One marker of bassist, composer, band leader, and educator Michael Formanek's creativity and versatility is the range of distinguished musicians of several generations he's worked with. 

CapitalBop, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving, promoting and presenting jazz in Washington, D.C. We build audiences in order to build community around this music, because it’s important to the city’s historic identity, but also ever-changing and contemporary. CapitalBop.com is designed to help everyone from newcomers to jazz die-hards find live music that will fit their preferences.
