Celebrate Friendship Place’s 30th Anniversary with distinguished panelists by engaging in a conversation that looks back at homelessness in the District during the last 30 years. Learn how the organization has become a leader in DC and a model for the nation in ending homelessness. Today, Friendship Place’s innovative programs have been replicated by the Veterans Affairs and nonprofits in major US cities.

Mayor Muriel Bowser addressed attendees with a special video. The panel was moderated by broadcast journalist Ray Suarez, Washington reporter for Euronews, and host of the weekly national radio and podcast series WorldAffairs, heard on KQED San Francisco and public radio stations around the country. Panelists included Jean-Michel Giraud, President and CEO, Friendship Place, Jean Duff, Friendship Place Co-Founder, Harold Sims, Friendship Place Board Member and Former Participant, Nan Roman, President and CEO, National Alliance to End Homelessness and Friendship Place Board Member, and Brenda Small, Business Leader and Friendship Place Board Member. Friendship Place’s Annual Spring Symposium was once again be co-hosted in partnership with NYU Washington, DC.
The discussion also looked forward to the next few years of Friendship Place’s life-saving work by introducing attendees to the HOPE Campaign, an initiative that will help navigate needs in the community left by the effects of the pandemic.
