Dans Le Lit du Rhone

NYU Washington, DC and the Embassy of Switzerland presented a film screening of Dans le lit du Rhône, a film about the intertwining of humans and nature.

Dans le lit du Rhône is the latest film of Swiss director Mélanie Pitteloud. The course of the Rhône River has been straitjacketed by humans for the last 150 years. But the river has not been tamed yet! Following some disastrous floods, a gigantic construction site is in the process of revitalizing it into a larger-sized space. This engaging and poetic film, featuring inhabitants linked to the future of the Rhône, is a journey that prompts universal questioning of our relationship with nature and territory. After the film, there was a Q&A session with Swiss director Mélanie Pitteloud.

This event was part of the Environmental Film Festival, whose mission is to celebrate Earth and inspire understanding and stewardship of the environment through the power of film, and the D.C. Francophonie Cultural Festival.
