Centrally located within the Office of University Relations and Public Affairs, the Office of Marketing Communications (MarComm) is a creative agency that has helped tell the NYU story for decades. MarComm utilizes strategic content development and tailored creative design to produce engaging, informative, and actionable integrated marketing campaigns.
At NYU, we unify under one voice. In general, NYU Marketing Communications follows the Chicago Manual of Style Online and Merriam-Webster. This guide covers our print and digital editorial style as well as our word preferences. While it is a great place to start, it is not comprehensive. A creative brief is an important tool when starting any creative project. A good brief will outline background information, goals, audience, deliverables, and more. Marketing Communications provides an editable creative brief template in Google Docs for the NYU community to use and edit to fit their needs.

The NYU Photo Bureau offers photographic services to the university community, including portrait sessions, organizing photo shoots for events, copyright/licensing, stock photo purchases, and photo archiving. Photo Bureau photographers can be booked for photo assignments on campus, within New York City, nationally, or on any NYU global campus.
The Photo Bureau has curated a free stock image photo bank that contains imagery ranging from student life to campus locations. The Photo Bureau regularly updates the gallery based on internal projects, requests, and presidential initiatives. Images may be used for NYU communications including social media, internal presentations, websites, and videos.
NYU Public Affairs
Through both internal and external outlets, the Office of Public Affairs seeks to tell NYU’s stories, showcasing the scholarship and achievements of NYU’s faculty and students, supporting major University events, and advancing the goals of the University.
NYU’s central social media channels, which reach a combined audience of over 1.5 million students, faculty, staff, alumni, and other community members, are managed through NYU’s Office of Public Affairs. Public Affairs offers guidelines, best practices, and tips for starting an NYU social media account as well as training and support. They also manage a Social Media Directory for those looking to connect with a particular NYU school or institute on social media.
From creative development to completed content
NYU Media Production is the Universityʼs full-service video production unit creating effective and memorable content for NYUʼs many audiences. Media Production specializes in numerous types of content including long and short form videos for social media, prospective students, current students, alumni, trustees, and donors as well as videos honoring NYU people featured at events large and small. The department also conducts oral histories. The Media Production team has adapted workflows to accommodate current social distancing measures, including remote production.
NYU provides the digital communication services necessary for faculty and staff to communicate easily and inexpensively. Available web communication technologies include bulk email services, social media, mobile applications, and the content management system (CMS).
